The model was bought to me in poor condition as a wreck and was restored in approx. 1600 hours of in laboriously detailed work. Many of the parts contained in the kit were not available or totally destroyed, and had to be remanufactured and/or modified to fit the 1941 timeperiod. In addition the entire structure had to be changed to allow for the amidships 15.5 cm of turrets.
Among other things the deck was planked with 1800 planks of Japanese cherry.
