Usually the builders use several sizes of nailes (mainly nail heads). Sometimes it not possible to find size of nail You need. In that case i am use following method to decrease the nail head.
If anybody knows another method please infom.

Really that is the much easir way. But Your way - is to purchase, not to make. It will be very goog for me in future. But if I need the nailes now? Do't forget that I am living in Ukraine, not in US. And nobody knows how long I will wait? For Your information - I spent fo 200 pieses about 5 hours.

Hi, Roma.
It is very hard work to remake each nail and I suppose that hundreds of nailes need for one model. Necessary to spend nany time. I am planing to build model from wooden kit. Can you recommend me, nails of which manufacturer better to buy and which sizes?

You are right. To remade the nails is a hard work and very tedious. For one normal model with two or three gang decks necessary not hundreds, but thousands nailes and different sizes. My opinion that nailes made by AMATI is the best, because it's very easy to make from one size several smoller sizes, not only by diametr and by heads also.
So I recommend You (if You wish to make next step in shipmodelling) to make something from Amati kits. Usually they supply kit with nailes.

If one has a lathe with collets, the quickest way is just to turn down the head of the nails. One can even make a form tool for this.
BTW, as a model 'engineer' it hurts me to see a machine reamer being abused as punch

The quickest and chippest way not to torn down the head of the nail, but to use wire with diametr You need. It hurts me to see turning down the the nail heads.
BWT, don't worry, my mashine reamer possible to use by direct purpose even after my small conversion.
最快和最便宜的方法不是沿着钉头旋转，而是使用您所需要直径的铜线。见到旋掉钉头，我心痛。
BWT，不用担心，我的铰床，在我做了小的改装，可以直接使用。

I know, brass wire would be cheaper, but I found that the stamping process involved in making the nails hardens the brass and makes it less prone to bend under the turning forces. Hard drawn brass wire is difficult to get.

I agree with You.
Harden drawn brass wire very easy to get from brass net. I don't know possible or not to find this net in Netherland or Germany, but in our shops for builders brass net available with different diametrs of wire.
